Hood Theological Seminary invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position with primary responsibility for directing its Supervised Practice of Ministry program.
Teaching responsibilities include the required Supervised Practice of Ministry courses (one each semester in each track) and another course in a secondary competency in Practical Theology (Pastoral Care and Counseling, Church Leadership, Church Administration, Evangelism, or Christian Education). Minimum qualifications include Ph.D. by August 2018 (extraordinary candidates who have completed the D.Min. degree will be considered), excellence in classroom instruction, willingness to work collaboratively with colleagues, and commitment to the seminary’s institutional mission.
Familiarity with Wesleyan and African American theological traditions is desired.
Semester teaching load is two courses in Track I (where courses meet Tues., Wed., or Thurs.) that are repeated in Track II (Fri. or Sat.) (i.e., four courses, two preps). Position involves possible teaching in the D.Min. program and advisement of Doctor of Ministry professional projects as needed.
The successful candidate shall have pastoral experience, shall have served in supervisory roles in ministry, and shall have a record (or promise) of academic contribution to their academic field. Faculty rank is open.
