The Director of Youth Ministry will provide leadership and vision to the Youth Ministry 6th – 12th grade. They will equip and teach our youth by introducing, nurturing, and developing their spiritual growth and personal relationship with Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ so they may become His disciples for the transformation of the world. They are responsible for recruiting, leading, organizing and supporting volunteers who are called to use their gifts in ministry with youth.
Essential Functions
• Be responsible for planning, teaching, and nurturing the faith development of youth to pursue an intimate relationship with God through educational, fellowship, and spiritual growth programs and activities. Equip and teach youth, including actively encouraging them to participate in worship and other church related activities.
• Intentionally be with youth in meaningful experiences, teaching the Bible and the good news of God’s love. Actively participate in community youth events and specific spiritual education programs as directed by the Youth Council, and the Pastor; including planning and attending weekly Thursday morning Youth Breakfast; regularly attending Sunday worship services and assisting and/or leading youth Sunday School.
• Provide spiritual mentorship to youth and parents in matters of personal and family concerns within the guidelines of the United Methodist Church; while, immediately reporting any problems or concerns to the Pastor.
• Plan and carry out programs, retreats and events with volunteers and other ministerial staff.
