First United Methodist Church, a growing congregation located in downtown Wilson, NC is seeking a Christ-following individual with a heart to oversee a new approach to ministry that is centered on discipling the entire family. We are seeking someone to provide leadership in directing the local discipleship program as it relates to youth so the mission to invite, inspire and ignite may be fulfilled. The Director of Youth Ministries and Discipleship is a full-time position with a youth focus.
The responsibilities would include:
Team Building: Equipping, identifying and supporting gifted teams of servant leaders.
Curriculum Oversight: Creating environments, choosing curriculum and implementation of programs that engage youth and families in discipleship opportunities.
Relationship Building: Coordinate the building of personal relationships between youth, families and servant leaders through fellowship events.
Communication: Sharing regularly with and being available to the larger church as a resource for Youth Ministries and Discipleship.
Serving Opportunities: Connecting with those who come within our walls to meet and love those who live outside our walls.
Candidates should possess:
Excellent organizational skills
Understanding of learning stages
Passion for making disciples
Willingness to work as a team player
Minimum education requirement: Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education or Family/Childhood Development
Minimum experience requirement: Three to five years of experience of regular, ongoing youth leadership in a local church or related field.
