Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church has a part-time opening (25 hours per week, with potential for growth into a full time position) for a Director of Traditional Music Ministries. This position will direct and oversee the areas of traditional worship music within the music ministry program, including but not limited to working with the traditional adult choir, orchestral ensemble, handbell choirs, and 11:00 am traditional worship service. In conjunction with the Director of Music Ministries, this position will have responsibility for recruitment, training and leading within assigned areas of ministry, in order to ensure that worship continues to grow in scope and excellence in harmony with the church’s vision to be a Christ-centered community that loves God, learns God, serves God and shares God.
The ideal candidate for this position will be eager to grow the ministry, bringing a sense of vibrancy and enthusiasm to the program. The timeline for growth of this position into a full time role could be anywhere between 1 and 5 years, depending on how quickly the ministry grows, and the degree of excellence that the candidate brings. We do not consider ourselves to be a “high church” or “classical church” setting, but rather a spirited traditional setting in which a wide variety of musical styles are embraced and welcomed.
Requirements for the position include a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in music, with masters level training or equivalent experience preferred. Previous experience in a traditional church music setting is preferred.
