The director’s responsibilities include:
• Coordinate music for all traditional services, typically an 11:00AM service, but additional services during Holy Week, Advent, Christmas, etc.
• Oversee the accompanist and lay directors
• Effectively communicate with all music ministry participants through phone, text, and/or email
• Excellent organ-playing abilities – preference given to those with advanced level playing ability
• On a weekly basis submit all materials needed to be placed in the bulletin, newsletter, and any special programs that are required
• Direct the handbell choir
• Provide primary accompaniment in all traditional worship services
• Direct children’s worship arts and youth worship arts, or secure a lay director for the groups
• Oversee liturgical dance
• Direct and develop the instrumentalists/orchestral program
•required for the grant process.
• Attend the first half of the 9:00AM contemporary service to facilitate community within the congregation.
• Perform administrative tasks, coordinating registrations and hotel reservations for events Purchase music supplies, hire instrumentalists, and maintain organ, pianos, and other musical instruments, coordinating all expenses with the Finance & Office Manager, following all financial procedures
• Recruit, train, and develop the Chancel Choir, adult choral ensembles, and soloists that are to participate in any worship services of the church
• Maintain the physical and electronic music library
• Secure substitute director and/or organist when absent
• Work in collaboration with the pastors and Worship Planning Team to select music
