Orange UMC (OUMC) in Chapel Hill, NC seeks a part-time Director of Music and Worship Arts for Contemporary Worship. Our “Pathways” contemporary service meets Sunday mornings at 8:50 am. We have many talented and faithful musicians. This position offers the candidate support and the opportunity to grow. OUMC began in 1832 and is a strong, established church with an exciting vision for the future. We also offer an excellent traditional worship service.
The ideal candidate will:
• Recognize a calling to minister through music
• Have strong lead vocal abilities.
• Have excellent guitar skills. Ability to play piano is also helpful.
• Have strong people skills, a shepherd’s heart, and be a team player.
• Plan, lead and engage the congregation in Christ-centered, Spirit-filled worship.
• Demonstrate a genuine faith in Jesus Christ and understanding of UMC beliefs.
• Relate well to all ages.
• Be a self-starter with excellent organizational and relational skills
• Have contemporary worship leadership experience
Core responsibilities include but are not limited to:
– Select songs; schedule musicians, vocalists, and tech support; create the worship order in collaboration with Pastor; plan and lead weekly rehearsal and the worship service; resource music team with charts, recordings, etc.; recruit team members; coach, teach, and develop team members (musically and spiritually); create media slides; provide pastoral care for worship team members; and other duties.
-The position is part time for 20 hours/week.
-Salary is $18,000/year
