Large church seeks an innovative and energetic Christian educator to support and
develop a nurturing and engaging program for the formation of Christian faith in
children. Our goal is to teach the faith in a way that will be remembered, retold and
integrated into the lives of our children. The objectives of our children’s ministry
include teaching scripture, prayer, and the beliefs and traditions of the church in such
a way that children will understand and embrace them as their own. In all things, we
seek to offer Christ in word and example to our children so that they might accept
him as Lord and Savior and live a faithful life.
The Director of Children’s Ministries position is part -time (25 hours per week) and requires a minimum of a bachelor’s degree and experience in a similar position. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with a wide range of people are essential. A Methodist background is preferred but not required, however, the individual in this position will be required to understand and support the doctrine, traditions and values of the United Methodist Church.
As part of the ministerial staff, the Director of Children’s Ministries will
have a strong personal faith in Christ and model that faith in the way he or she lives
and works. The Director will work closely with professional church staff and the
Children’s Council of the church. The position reports to the Associate Pastor for Mission and Empowerment.
