This is a salaried position. As a member of the church staff expected to work cooperatively with laypersons and church staff for the effectiveness of the total church ministry, the Director of Children and Youth Ministries shall work under the immediate supervision of the Pastor and is ultimately responsible to the Staff Parish Relations Committee for the development and promotion of a comprehensive and effective ministry to children and youth. This person should:
*Be a Christian with personal and spiritual maturity and moral integrity.
*Have an understanding of Wesleyan theology and United Methodist traditions, and/or be willing to learn and grow in this tradition through reading, workshops, and other forms of professional development.
*Have experience working in children and youth ministry. Volunteer experience may apply if it is regular, consistent, and includes event planning and implementation, teaching, and direct interaction with youth.
*Be or become actively engaged in the life and ministries of First United Methodist Church.
*Be able to have a flexible work schedule, as well as designate and maintain regular office hours.(Minimum 26-30 hours/week)
