Candidates for the newly-created position must demonstrate a proven record of spiritual maturity, leadership development, intercultural competence, and commitment to Christ in fulfilling the mission of The United Methodist Church to make and mature disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
The director of Multi-Cultural Vitality will report to the director of Connectional Ministries and serve on the Conference Leadership Team as a member of the Conference Council On Ministries (CCOM). The director will partner with other CCOM directors, district superintendents, the bishop, executive staff and other leaders to plan and implement strategies that will develop and strengthen vital multi-cultural
congregations.
The director of Multi-Cultural Vitality will actively engage pastors and congregations in discernment and reflection about their role, and the role of conference leadership, in fully embracing the communities that we serve. This includes specific attention to developing multi-ethnic, multi-cultural, and multigenerational diversity as well as valuing and celebrating traditional racial and ethnic heritage.
