North Raleigh UMC (Raleigh, NC) seeks a motivated and organized full-time Associate Minister of Music to join its vibrant music ministry. NRUMC holds one contemporary and three traditional Sunday-morning worship services.
This is a full-time position of at least 30 hours/week, working in concert with two other full-time staff musicians and a contract organist. Overview of duties:
1. Accompanist for the Chancel Choir, auditioned chamber choir, seniors’ choir, and contemporary band;
2. Oversight of the children/youth music ministries of the church (recruitment, occasional substitution, serving as a resource for volunteer leaders, etc.);
3. Coordination of special-music (soloists/small groups) for the 10:00 traditional service;
4. Coordination of organists (for Sunday services, weddings, funerals, etc.).

The ideal candidate will possess:
A strong identification with the Christian faith, and knowledge of liturgy and hymnody;
a Bachelor’s degree or higher in music;
working knowledge of music theory and form;
extremely high proficiency as an accompanist, including open-score;
appreciation for and experience in contemporary AND traditional styles of worship music;
basic conducting and leadership abilities to work with children, youth and adults;
extraordinarily strong organization and communication skills.
