Age Level Music Associate

First United Methodist Church in Cary, North Carolina (First Cary) seeks an Age-Level Music Associate who will invest in a strong future for children and youth in the Music Ministry of the church. The Associate will be someone who shares in the mission and vision of the church, and who values a team ministry approach with the families, staff, and clergy to shepherd children, youth, and their families on a journey of discipleship and leadership in worship through music.

The role and the responsibilities of this position will build on the well-established ministry of a large and thriving congregation, and at the same time will create new opportunities to strengthen the ministry and the discipleship of our children and youth. Weekly rhythms include Sundays and Wednesdays, in addition to weekly staff and team meetings.

Other key responsibilities are to lead adult music groups as needed on occasion, and to lead weekly music classes in the church’s Preschool, The Methodist Children’s Center, (MCC). The Associate will be forward thinking, adaptive, have strong communication skills, and provide solid follow-through for the discernment, planning, and implementation of age-level music ministry.

The appropriate candidate will have a degree in Music Education or Church Music, or in Music with course study in music education, and at least 2-3 years of experience. This is a part-time position consisting of 15-20 hours per week. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled.
