Regular, Part-time, 20-25 hours/week
Purpose
The director will facilitate activities and events and equip leaders to support the spiritual formation and development of youth (grades 6-12) in large and small group settings. The primary goal is to enable our youth to grow in their understanding of the Christian gospel and learn what it means to live as a disciple of Jesus Christ.
Key Responsibilities:
· Select curriculum and themes that foster the spiritual formation of our youth, including growth in knowledge and service to Jesus Christ and Biblical discussions that are meaningful and relevant.
· Empower the youth in ways that engage their faith, leadership skills and service within the youth group, the congregation and out in the community.
· Recruit, equip, and empower lay leaders and servant volunteers to carry out ministry with our youth at weekly youth gatherings and for spiritual formation opportunities such as Sunday School
· Develop and engage Youth Leadership Teams to give the youth a voice and help implement activities and events (e.g., weekly youth gatherings, missional outreach, lock-ins, retreats, speakers, workshops.)
· Ensure a welcoming and inclusive environment at all activities.
· Communicate and support the ministry plans with the congregation.
· Ensure we as a congregation follow Safe Sanctuaries practices.
· Collaborate with our children’s and music ministry leaders
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
· Bachelor’s degree in a related field and/or certification in related field and/or professional experience/or equivalent.
· Experience working with youth in a Christian-based setting preferred
· Passion for Empowering, equipping, training lay leaders and servant volunteers to carry out ministry
· Effective organizer, recruiter, trainer and facilitator
· Collaborative planning and project management
· Passion for ministry and a desire for building relationships with children, youth, and their families
· Experience working as an integral and contributing part of a staff team comprised of clergy, program staff, and support staff preferred but not required
· Knowledge and comfort with United Methodist theology and practice
· Advanced theological degree is preferred, but not required

· Whereas this Saint Francis UMC staff member may have access to or be aware of information related to church matters, including but not limited to the pastoral leadership, the church staff, church laity and members, church business operations, finance, and any other church matters where there is a reasonable or expressed expectation of privacy or confidentiality, there is an expectation that the staff member will:
a) Hold the information in strict confidence and shall exercise a reasonable degree of care to prevent disclosure to others,
b) Not disclose or divulge either directly or indirectly the confidential information to others without the express authorization to do so by Saint Francis UMC’s Lead Pastor or Lay Leader,
c) Not reproduce (via hard copy, soft copy, email, etc.) any information that may be considered confidential, except for the purpose of performing his or her performance of duties for Saint Francis UMC as outlined in the job description above, or without the express consent of Saint Francis UMC’s Lead Pastor or Lay Leader,
d) Upon request or upon termination of employment, return and /or give access to all records, notes, documents, equipment, and other information and material that are the property of Saint Francis UMC, and
e) As a condition of their employment with Saint Francis UMC, maintain the confidentiality of all matters related to Saint Francis UMC, wherever there is a reasonable expectation of confidentiality, both now and after separation of employment.
