On March 15-17, approximately 50 clergy and laity gathered at The Franklinton Center at Bricks for a Crossroads Retreat led by Bishop Ken Carder, Dr. Zoila Airall and Dr. Tex Sample. Bishop Carder reminds us that “Prophetic Living is to live at the crossroads of the world as it is and the world as God intends it to be.” We worshiped, learned together and formed relationships with one another, all striving to be faithful to our call to justice for all people.
We were reminded of and identified with our Wesleyan roots, wrestled with scripture and explored practical ways that we can live into our call to be prophetic people who recognize racial injustice, economic injustice, immigration issues, classism, sexism and other issues that we face in our communities today.
Many who gathered for the retreat felt led to becoming a part of a movement and there will be additional opportunities to gather in the coming months to continue to learn, grow and encourage one another. Our next retreat will be held in mid September and we will learn from Ched Myers, and Nelson and Joyce Johnson. Additional details will be forthcoming.
