Jay Locklear recently joined the Disaster Ministries team this past June. Jay previously worked at a local church in the conference in Communications and Technology. He jumped at the opportunity to join Disaster Ministries because he wanted to be a part of the work that The North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church is doing to help disaster survivors.
Jay works in the Communications department, sharing stories and creating awareness for Disaster Ministries. He travels to Disaster Ministries’ eight centers to tell stories about the work being done across Eastern North Carolina by The United Methodist Church. He is passionate about communications and is excited to work with a great team that is already in place.
Jay is also a part of the Informational Technology team. His tech savvy skills are used to help team members in the disaster response centers by installing new software, resolving computer issues, and distributing new devices. His goal is to make sure the technology is working properly so the centers can accomplish everything needed to return disaster survivors back home.
Jay has enjoyed working with Disaster Ministries and working with a variety of people in The North Carolina Conference. Jay believes that “helping people, even in small ways, makes a big difference.” He hopes that he can help “make people aware of how they can be involved” with Disaster Ministries through the stories he writes.
Welcome to the team Jay!
