A pastor shared this story: After receiving an adult on Profession of Faith, they stood together as the congregation sang the final hymn. During the hymn, the new member leaned over and asked him, “Now what do I do?” For the first time in his ministry, he heard the question two different ways.
One was the standard inquiry about what would happen next in the worship service: where to stand, leave or stay, etc. This time, though, he heard an inquiry about discipleship. He realized he did not have a good answer for that. What exactly should a new disciple do to begin a path of growth as a disciple? He realized that while the church had several offerings, they certainly lacked a clear and intentional path for a disciple to grow.
