The statistics are alarming: 19 out of 20 people under the age of 35 don’t participate in Christian worship each week.
The Good News is that We Can Be Faithful to Jesus and Fruitful in Engaging Younger Adults in Our Church Ministries. The NC Conference is offering a workshop and coaching relationship for participating local churches to increase their capacity to engage younger adults in a discipleship pathway leading to a growing relationship with Christ and the church. The first workshop is scheduled for February 20-21, 2015, in Spring Hill UMC in Lillington, NC.
The training and coaching are research based. The principles and practices taught and coached in this process have been derived from hundreds of interviews and relationships with people under the age of 35 who are actively involved in United Methodist Churches. Those conversations reveal the beautiful path to Christ that generous, loving, thoughtful, and courageous church leaders paved for them.
When you choose to commit the time and attention of your pastor and a group of dedicated laity, yours can be that trusted church where dozens of young people discover who they are called to be in Jesus and through which their spiritual gifts will be poured out in faith, hope and love to a world in need.
