All this is from God, who reconciled us … through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation . . . So we are ambassadors for Christ, since God is making [an] appeal through us; we entreat you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. 2 Corinthians 5: 18, 20 NRSV [adapted]
Are you drawn to ministries of peacemaking and reconciliation? Do you have the spiritual gift(s) of teaching, healing, discernment, and/or faith? Do you have experience in mediation, in teaching adults, in facilitating small groups or group processes? If so, you may be called to become a Minister of Conflict Transformation. The office of Conflict Transformation Ministries (CTM) of the NC Conference is seeking laity and clergy to serve as ministers on Conflict Transformation Teams. Conflict Transformation Teams assist local churches to navigate conflict in healthier, more faithful ways.
If you are called to serve as a Conflict Transformation (CT) Minister, your first step is to submit a Conflict Transformation Minister application. If you are accepted for training, you will be asked to complete a 15-hour online training course and attend two one-day training sessions. Total training will be about 27 hours. When you have finished your training, you will be ready to serve referrals in local churches with ongoing support from Rev. Molly Shivers, Director of the Conflict Transformation Ministries.
Current CT Ministers are welcome to complete the online course and attend any in-person trainings. Training will begin in late March. All training dates and locations will be announced shortly.
All completed forms are due March 13, 2020. If you have questions or would like an application via email, contact Rev. Molly Shivers, Director, at mshivers@nccumc.org.
