Our Ministry
Conflict is a natural, normal, and necessary part of life. Healthy engagement of conflict can transform conflict from a feared, destructive force into a welcomed, constructive agent for growth. The key to transforming conflict is the ability to engage and move through it in a healthy manner. The Conflict Transformation Ministries of the North Carolina Conference lead churches and individuals through the process of transforming conflict from a problem into an opportunity!
All of this is from God, who reconciled us… through Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation.
2 Corinthians 5:18
We are reminded through the work of our Conflict Transformation Team that we can learn how to talk and work with those with whom we disagree or find ourselves in conflict because reconciliation starts with a willingness to mutually work through conflict with hearts of peace. This is the core of our life together as transformed Christian sisters and brothers.
Bishop Leonard Fairley
Our Mission
The Conflict Transformation Ministries support the annual conference in its mission to have healthy congregations and effective leaders in every place making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.
Our vision is the Body of Christ healed and transformed for the making of disciples. While our context for ministry is primarily within the United Methodist Connection in eastern North Carolina, we seek to embody God’s vision of peace and reconciliation for all of God’s people and all of God’s creation.
It’s essential that Christians learn to listen well and to honor the viewpoint of others.
Bishop Hope Morgan Ward (Retired)
