One area of focus\u00a0of Congregations\u00a0for Children (C4C) is “Advocating for community and governmental support of public education.” Before we can effectively advocate for our public schools, we must be aware of the pressing needs and issues that our public school educators, students, and their parents face daily. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Leandro case is the most significant court case in a generation that affects public education. At its core is the issue of adequate funding for “a sound basic education” for all North Carolina public school children, regardless of their address and socioeconomic\u00a0status. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Leandro is back at the forefront of our\u00a0attention on the health\u00a0of our public schools, and WRAL is offering an instructive 30-minute documentary about it on\u00a0March\u00a016 at 7:30 PM. This will be one of several avenues for learning about the ways our public schools are being financially starved, and our public school children are being adversely affected — and the ways we can flip that narrative to our children’s advantage. So I invite you to tune in to “Leandro: The case for a sound basic education” or record it for later viewing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
