In the summer of 2017, Camp Don Lee partnered with Cherry Point UMC in Havelock, to host a week long day camp entitled “Voyage”. Staff from Camp Don Lee, with support from church volunteers, provided 50 children (grades 1-5, from high poverty areas of Craven County) four full days of camp like activities on the grounds of the church. Camp Don Lee also opened their facility to allow the children the experience of sailing and more! Meals were provided through the Craven County Schools Summer Feeding Program. It was a wonderful week, made possible by the support of the Sound District. This Pilot Program is a great example of how a community can pull together and impact and enrich the lives of children home for the summer.
