Bishop Ward encourages churches to lift up the ministries of UMCOR on UMCOR Sunday, March 26 (or another Sunday that works best) and receive an offering in gratitude for the assistance the North Carolina Conference has received from UMCOR offerings after hurricanes and tornados.
Bishop Ward gives a report on the conference Mission Endowment Fund, which has made a grant of $60,000 to the Conference Disaster Response Ministries to be used for Hurricane Matthew recovery.
As we approach the fourth Sunday of Advent, Bishop Ward encourages us to give generously to Hurricane Matthew relief and also to be in prayer as the Church enters a new year of mission and ministry.
Bishop Ward introduces the season of Advent with an art piece depicting Mary and the angel Gabriel. She also encourages persons to participate in Giving Tuesday on Nov. 29 and churches to take a special Advent/Christmas offering for Hurricane Matthew relief and recovery.
