Bishop Ward gives thanks for the joys of the fall season and the hospitality of United Methodist churches working at the North Carolina State Fair.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
In these beautiful days of fall, we give thanks for God’s creativity and love. The English poet, John Donne, wrote that “in heaven it is always autumn, for there God’s mercies are at their fullest maturity.”
A joy every fall is the North Carolina State Fair. We hope that you will, at the fair, go eat a United Methodist biscuit, or barbecue sandwich, or a plate of fried chicken. A number of our United Methodist churches find ways at the fair each year, to offer hospitality and good food while raising a lot of money for mission and for ministry in the world.
As we celebrate the days of fall and have fun at harvest sales and fall fairs and at the State Fair, may Christ’s joy be abundant in each one of us. May joy be full in you this day and in all the days of fall.
