Let us all unite ourselves in prayer as we continue through the COVID-19 journey, and pray for our families, our communities, and our world in the month of May.
New every day is your love, great God of light and, all day long, you are working for good in the world. Stir up in us desire to serve you, to live peacefully with our neighbors, and with all creation and to devote this day to your service. Amen.
I love this morning prayer offered in the Guide to Daily Prayer. I pray it often in the morning, giving thanks for the beauty of creation, for neighbors and friends like you, and for God’s promise to always be at work for good in the world.
As we are surrounded by the pandemic, as we are surrounded by the anxiety and worry and concern about health, about economics, about the future, let us unite our hearts in prayer.
Mike and I have used, during the month of April, a COVID-19 prayer guide, and we, through the staff of our Annual Conference, have created for you, in the month of May, a COVID-19 prayer response. There will be a prayer request for every day of the month and as you place this prayer printed out on your dining table or a place where you often pause for prayer, may it not only remind you of prayer needs around the world and in our communities; may it remind you also that we are praying together for our neighbors, for the medical community, for those who make decisions regarding our public life, and for all who are impacted in this time of pandemic.
Look for it on Friday, May 1, and together, we’ll be guided well toward God and one another as we pray for our families, our communities, and our world in the month of May.
