In this video, Bishop Ward speaks about God’s generosity and the generosity of the Hispanic Ministry Team during Hispanic Heritage Month.
Out of God’s great and generous heart we have received grace upon grace. These words, from the prologue of the Gospel of John, are lovely indeed and they help us imagine the abundance of God’s love, grace upon grace, to us. God is the giver of every good and perfect gift and our theology of generosity begins with that affirmation.
The source of all life, the source of all goodness, the source of every blessing is our great and generous God. And so, our lives reflect that generosity as we seek to be more like Jesus Christ day by day. Each of us can give witness to the generosity of God as we receive gifts through one another.
September is Hispanic Heritage Month and the Hispanic Ministry team of the Annual Conference hosted a fiesta for the Conference staff and the Cabinet. What a lovely way to celebrate our common life. The leaders of the Hispanic Ministry team expressed thanks for the support which they feel as they lead ministry out into the Annual Conference.
We enjoyed Peruvian food, we prayed together the Lord’s Prayer in English and in Spanish, and in other ways we gave thanks to God for one another. Today, pause and give thanks to God for a way in which you have seen God’s generosity flow. May each of us be a channel of blessing as we live with God’s grace upon grace upon us and let us share it freely with others.
