Bishop Ward thanks churches for being in ministry with children in their communities through the summer months.
Grace and peace to you as you engage with children in these hot summer months.
Summer literacy camps are one way in which our congregations are for children. Red Oak United Methodist Church is an excellent example of the joy and energy that flows when we reach out to children in our community.
The Duke Endowment funds many of these efforts across our Annual Conference and we are deeply grateful.
Children receive help in learning how to read. They gather in circles for storytime. They learn songs. They take swimming lessons at the local pool, carefully supervised by loving volunteers. In these and many other ways, these literacy camps help our children advance in the summer.
Together we give thanks for God’s call to ministry with all God’s children.
