A Christmas Eve message from Bishop Hope and Netto Barriguete.
Grace and peace to you in Jesus Christ as Christmas comes. Feliz Navidad. Merry Christmas.
What child is this who lays to rest on Mary’s lap is sleeping? Whom angels greet with anthems sweet while shepherds watch are keeping. This, this is Christ the King, whom shepherds guard and angels sing. Haste, haste to bring Him laud, Christ, the child of Mary.
It is the practice in our church to have the youngest child, the most recently born, be Baby Jesus in the Christmas scene. This is Netto Barriguete, seven weeks old, the son of Ernesto Barriguete, the director of Multicultural Ministries for the North Carolina Annual Conference.
As we see this beautiful child and hear him, we give thanks for all the ways that God makes everything new in Christmas. Rejoice! The Savior of the world has come. Welcome to our world Netto. Welcome to our world Lord Jesus.
