Bishop Ward and Bishop Kenneth Monroe of the AMEZ Church share some of the collaborative ministries in which we have been engaged.
Bishop Ward: Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
I’m Bishop Hope Morgan Ward of the North Carolina Conference and I’m here with my good friend and colleague, Bishop Kenneth Monroe of the AMEZ Church. We are beginning a 24-hour retreat together with our district superintendents and presiding elders. We give thanks for all the ties that bind us in ministry.
Bishop Monroe: Thank you. I’m very happy to be here. I’m actually from this area and we are grateful to be in this retreat. We’ve already started some things together, particularly in the Knightdale area, where we have started a congregation with the assistance of the United Methodist church there. We’re doing work over together in the Harbor district and the Beaufort district of our church and we’re doing some ministries there as well as in Wilmington.
We’re grateful to be a part of this retreat; matter of fact, next week, we’re going to be in Atlanta for the Pan-Methodist Commission which I serve as chairman and I’m hoping that this kind of event that we are doing with this retreat can inspire the rest of the Pan-Methodist groups that we’ll be meeting with next week.
Bishop Ward: We’ll be worshiping this evening at Sandy Grove AMEZ very nearby tonight. This afternoon, we’ll be talking together about our shared ministries and then we’ll do some appointive work tomorrow in our two cabinets. It’s a joy to be with you.
May Christ be with you this day.
