Bishop Ward shares about her experience at Summer Breakaway and the importance of our young people.
In these days of summer, we are engaged in wonderful ways with children and young people in our communities across the North Carolina Annual Conference.
Last week it was my great joy to be at Breakaway, with over 300 youth from churches across our Annual Conference. The theme of Breakaway was emblazoned on a large name tag, “Hello my name is _______.”
“Hello, my name is child of God.” We are grateful for young people and for the adults who enjoy youth ministry with them. This theme, “Hello my name is _____,” enabled young people to speak about the challenges of our lives and the great gift of God in our lives. What a joyful thing to know that our name is “child of God.”
In these summer months, thank you for the ways that you’re engaged with children and young people through Vacation Bible schools, through youth ministry, and Volunteer-in-Mission work camps. The camps of our Annual Conference are welcoming children and youth throughout the summer.
Let us remember to pray for all who work with young people, for all who love young people, and for the young people who are a great joy in our midst.
