In this season of Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas, Bishop Ward invites every congregation to receive special offerings for Hurricane Matthew response and recovery.
Grace and peace to you servants of God, this day. A year ago, Hurricane Matthew devastated eastern North Carolina. Thousands of homes were damaged and destroyed, and thousands of people still await assistance to get back home.
It’s been an amazing year as generosity continues to flow to the North Carolina Conference Disaster Response ministry. It’s been an amazing year as thousands of people have come to eastern North Carolina to volunteer their gifts, their time, and their talent. It’s been an extraordinary year as homes have been refurbished and as families have moved back in. Many families await your help and mine.
In this season of Thanksgiving, and soon Christmas, we invite, in every congregation, special offerings for Hurricane Matthew response and recovery. There have been impactful hurricanes in Texas and in Florida and in Puerto Rico and in many other places, and we celebrate generosity to all of these areas that have been devastated. At the same time, we remember our own neighbors and focus in this Holy season Thanksgiving, Advent and Christmas on increasing the resources we have. We want to work together, sharing abundance until every family in eastern North Carolina impacted by Hurricane Matthew is back home.
Thank you for your offerings. Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for your prayers. Thank you for your partnership as together we recover from Hurricane Matthew.
