Greetings from Bishop Ward as she attends the spring meeting of the Council of Bishops.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
I send you this greeting from the spring meeting of the Council of Bishops of The United Methodist Church. I’ve been a part of this leadership community for 14 years and give thanks for the inspiration, the colleagueship, the friendship, the challenge, the inspiration, and the mutual support that I continue to receive. How grateful I am for the opportunity to continue to serve as the resident Bishop in the North Carolina Annual Conference. Your good spirit, your prayers, and your support are continued gifts and they continue for all our life together as we move forward past this meeting.
In some weeks, perhaps a couple of months, the report will be forthcoming to the church. After it is decided, it will be translated into languages so that it will be accessible to all United Methodists in Africa, in Europe, in the Philippines, and in the United States.
Thank you for your prayers as we continue to talk together, to pray together, to reason together. Our prayers continue toward the special session called in February 2019 for the purpose of making a decision about our life together relative to our ministry with LGBTQI persons in our churches, in our communities, in our families. Thank you for your partnership as God’s people gathered in this unique way in this church we call United Methodist.
