Bishop Samuel Quire of Liberia visits with Bishop Ward and shares some of the Methodist ministry focuses in Liberia.
Bishop Ward:
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. It’s a joy to be with my colleague Bishop Samuel Quire of Liberia. We share in a covenant group in the Council of Bishops and it’s been a joy to get to know you since your election in 2016. Tell us some about The United Methodist Ministry in Liberia.Bishop Quire:
Thank you, Bishop Ward, for giving me this opportunity. Right now in Liberia, we’ve just created a document that has the eight pillars of our ministry focus. The first pillar has to do with evangelism and the second pillar has to do with transparency and accountability. The third pillar has to do with our agriculture. We want to go back to the soil and help to sustain our various ministries and then, of course, the fourth pillar has to do with education and health and those pillars go down the line. These are what we’re doing right now in Liberia.Bishop Ward:
Thank you for spending a portion of your sabbatical with us. Bishop Quire will be all around our Annual Conference, at Duke Divinity School and the University of North Carolina and at an extension facility of North Carolina State. He’ll also be at the MERCI Center and he and I are dressed for work at the MERCI Center, aren’t we?Bishop Quire:
Right, we are. Well, it’s a great pleasure to really be here Bishop and I appreciate the fact that I could meet you today. God bless.Bishop Ward:
Thank you. God bless you and God bless all our United Methodist sisters and brothers in Liberia.Bishop Quire:
Amen.
