During this holiday week, Bishop Ward reminds us that God’s grace is for all people in all places.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
As we celebrate our nation’s birthday tomorrow, we sing of God’s grace – “God shed thy grace on thee.” This is a prayer that God’s grace will be abundant upon us, through us, out into all the world. We United Methodists last year designated $44 million through the Advance, through the United Methodist Committee on Relief for disaster response, in the United States and out into the world. $22 million of this has been designated for recovery in Puerto Rico. Thank you for your continued gifts so that those who are suffering might be helped.
God’s grace is abundant upon us and we are called to live as gracious, grace- filled people. As we think together and live well into the future, let us remember that God’s grace is given for all people in all places. That grace flows across any border, any fence, any division that humans seek to set up. That grace is God’s gift to all.
May you have a wonderful 4th of July, and in this week, may you give thanks again for God’s gracious gift.
