Bishop Ward is joined by Hannah McMillan and Cooper Sykes to talk about Eat for Relief, an event scheduled for Pilgrimage 2019 to benefit Disaster Ministries.
Bishop Ward:
Each year, Pilgrimage creates a mission opportunity for youth. Last year, our youth pledged to raise $500,000 for hurricane recovery.
Hannah McMillan:
This year’s Pilgrimage mission event will combine our commitment to mission and storm recovery with a love for food. On Saturday, November 9, Pilgrimage will sponsor a community meal for Pilgrimage participants called Eat for Relief. Eat for Relief will directly benefit hurricane recovery efforts in our conference. Participants will be asked to donate at least $11 to the Youth Storm Fund and all funds raised in this youth event will be doubled by the North Carolina Conference up to $500,000. As we dine, we will hear from Al Miller, director of Disaster Ministries and North Carolina Conference youth affected by the recent storms and involved in recovery efforts.
Cooper Sykes:
There are many ways to be involved. 1) Attend Eat for Relief and donate at least $11 to the Youth Storm Fund. 2) Apply to share your story about how you were affected by the storms or how you have been involved in recent recovery efforts. Check the Pilgrimage website for the application to share your story. 3) Renew you commitment to participating in disaster recovery lie donate to the Youth Storm Fund, join a workteam, or pray for storm-related requests.
Bishop:
We look forward to seeing you at Eat for Relief at Pilgrimage 2019.
