As we embrace this season of homecoming and harvest, Bishop Hope reminds us we too were once new as the church. You can honor those days when your church first came to life by participating in Impact10, an indispensable resource for launching of new faith communities! Give today to Impact10 to grow the church on earth for the kingdom of God.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ. Fall is a time of abundance. We see God’s extravagant generosity to us as we see the great in-gathering of the harvest.
This is the time for church pumpkin sales, harvest festivals, anniversaries and homecomings. As I worship with many of you, we celebrate significant anniversaries of your congregation; fifty years, a hundred years, two hundred years. As we celebrate these histories, we are aware that every church was once new.
A few people gathered with the vision to establish a congregation that would exist across time. A place where people would gather for worship and nurture, where they would pray together and where they would depart to serve out into the world. We celebrate the continuing planting of new congregations in this spirit.
God’s great harvest is accomplished as we reach out beyond ourselves into the world. I invite your participation and generosity through Impact10. Impact10 is our way of supporting church planting, congregational development and new places for new people.
Impact10 grew out of an older movement, a historical movement in our annual conference, called The Ten Dollar Club. A way of giving in a regular fashion so that we will under-gird together our movement in mission out into the world. Thank you for becoming, or continuing to be, a member of Impact10.
Your gifts are making a difference as we extend our ministry in Christ in Eastern North Carolina. In this way, God’s harvest will be gathered in. Thank you for all you are doing to plant new churches so that new people will be gathered to Christ and sent forth out into the world.
