Bishop Ward and Hannah McMillan share with joy and celebration the fun, fellowship, and mission of Eat for Relief at Pilgrimage 2019.
Bishop Ward:
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.Life with Christ is a continual opportunity to be recreated, to be born anew, to step into a new way of being in ministry. Here at Pilgrimage, that happened in a wonderful way. Hannah McMillan led the charge.
Hannah McMillan:
So North Carolina Pilgrimage was looking for a way to join the youth and their commitment to raising $500,000 for Youth Storm Fund. One of the best parts of Pilgrimage is the Saturday afternoon lunch and free time and we wanted to be creative in thinking about how we could pair our mission with the youths’ desire to raise $500,000, so we decided that we would have a community meal and through something called “Eat for Relief,” this is our first year and we were able to bring 600 people together for community, for fellowship, for a chance to be generous and creative in raising money for our neighbors across the Conference. We had a wonderful time, hamburgers, hot dogs, people serving it up, lots of coloring books, exciting times, but most importantly, fellowship with each other and creativity to raise money for Youth Storm Fund.
Bishop Ward:
We celebrate this and I’d like to ask you to think about this question: what in your community, in your church, in your life, could be transformed into greater generosity, greater hospitality, greater community? May Christ be with you.
