Jim Martin, Director at Camp Rockfish, joins Bishop Ward to talk about the joys of camping and retreat activities at our conference camps.
Bishop Ward: Grace and peace to you, God’s beloved.
Creation care and outdoor ministries are an important part of our shared life together as United Methodists in the North Carolina Conference. I’m at Camp Rockfish with Jim Martin, the Director. Tell us about your ministry here.
Jim Martin: We do all kinds of things throughout the year – retreats, and summer camping. We have a great time setting the table for churches to come and be a part to grow their folks, so we like to undergird the discipleship programs of all the churches. We’re one of three camps – Camp Rockfish, Chestnut Ridge and Don Lee. So we just are privileged to be a part of the ministry of the North Carolina Conference.
Bishop Ward: Hundreds of children will soon be coming to summer camp. The camps are available for your retreat groups, for silent retreats and individual retreats. We hope you will take advantage of these wonderful facilities. We are here at the Bergland Center at Camp Rockfish and our facilities are ready for groups of children, groups of youth, groups of young adults, groups of older folks, and families.
Thank you for our shared ministry with all God’s people.
