Bishop Ward welcomes Cathy Earl and Greg Ellis from UMCOR to the NC Conference with a green Disaster Ministries shirt as they prepare to tour the Disaster Recovery centers.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
Behind us is a sea of beautiful green shirts as we celebrate the ministry of The United Methodist Committee on Relief. As we approach the first anniversary of Hurricane Florence, it’s a delight to welcome Cathy Earl and Greg Ellis into our midst today. A gift of a green shirt to you both. Cathy, thank you for your work as Director of UMCOR for the U.S. and territories.
It is our privilege to be here and I can’t think of a time Bishop when the North Carolina Conference wasn’t doing some kind of disaster ministries so thanks for the privilege of partnering with you in that.
It is continual here we’re afraid.
And Bishop, I want to thank you for an opportunity to work with you now in a second Conference because I’m from Pennsylvania originally, so I was down working Katrina in Mississippi and now I’m here in North Carolina working with you on the disasters here so hopefully the disasters won’t keep following you.
We give thanks for our common life and for our shared mission. We give thanks for every gift that you continue to offer, for your resources, for your presence, for your skills, and for your prayers as we help every family in North Carolina impacted by the storm return home.
