Bishop Ward ushers us into the charge conference season, encouraging generous and faithful giving to help teachers, in the aftermath of Hurricane Florence, replenish their classrooms for productive learning.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
We are now in the fall season of charge conferences and as we gather together, we will anticipate great generosity. The offering received at every charge conference is designated for public schools in eastern North Carolina. Specifically, this offering will go to help teachers replenish their classrooms, provide the supplies that they need for teaching and learning. It will also supply the things that children need in order to engage the opportunities that school offers them day by day. Thank you for giving generously. Millions of dollars of damage was done by Hurricane Florence and your offerings will make a great difference.
As you gather for charge conferences, you will be in my prayers. Charge conferences are times of worship and of community and of decision and of sending forth. As you gather, may you be inspired once again to be a Christ- follower in the Wesleyan way, to ground your own life in witness, in grace and mercy and discipleship, to follow Christ with others who share this vision for the Christian life. May you be an apostle bearing the good news of Christ’s redeeming love into your community. May your generosity in the weeks and months ahead be an important asset in the rebuilding of eastern North Carolina so devastatingly impacted by Hurricane Florence.
We cherish this life together. I give thanks for your sharing in it.
