Bishop Ward encourages us to respect and care for our bodies as temples through available health and wellness programs.
Grace and peace to you in the name of Jesus Christ.
In this New Year, we are focusing afresh on the abundant life given to us in Christ. Jesus says in the Gospel of John, “I have come that ye might have life, abundant life.”
We urge all laity and clergy to support one another in exercise, healthy eating, and life-giving habits so that we might honor our bodies, the temple of the Holy Spirit as they are described in the New Testament.
We are grateful to our insurance committee and the annual conference for the new ways in which they are encouraging clergy to live healthy lives. A new program that encourages clergy to eat less, move more and weigh less is offered with incentives a 15-week course. We urge you to sign up and to participate. The Amazing Pace Walking program is increasing the benefits to those who participate. You can now earn up to $250 in an annual bonus if you take more than 10,000 steps per day.
In these and other ways, we are seeking to encourage one another to live fully toward God. May your life be abundant day by day in this New Year.
