Bishop Ward shares The Commission on Evangelism’s invitation to a 10 day prayer vigil in this video.
Grace and peace to each of you in the name of Jesus Christ. We give thanks that we are called to pray without ceasing. Across this last year, the district superintendents in the eight districts have gathered for prayer on the courthouse steps in every county in eastern North Carolina.
The prayer baton has passed from the Beacon district to the Sound district to the Harbor district, and through the other districts and will be returning at Annual Conference, celebrating this great season of prayer.
The Commission on Evangelism invites each of us into a ten-day prayer vigil as June comes. On June 1 through June 10, I look forward to praying with each of you at 1 p.m. every day for one minute, around the question, “How might I be open to God’s call to be a disciple of Jesus Christ here in eastern North Carolina?”
As we pray together, our prayers will be a means of grace as God meets us where we are and beckons us out into the world in servant leadership. As we pray these first ten days in June and as we receive the prayer baton at Annual Conference, which has passed through all the districts, we give thanks for the gift of prayer in our lives.
May this prayer vigil bless you even as we are blessed as a connection of United Methodist people, living in service to all the world.
