The Methodist Building – Garner
I invite you to join me in a Bishop’s Forum on Support for Immigrants and Families. As actions by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) increase, many immigrants and families in our United Methodist churches and surrounding communities are being deeply traumatized. Families are left without regular sources of income. Families suffering medical issues are left without caregivers. Children are separated from parents. For many, acquisition of basic necessities has become a significant issue.
In this forum, we will:
• learn how we can faithfully respond as disciples of Jesus
• consider how we can be supportive in spirit
• understand ways we can provide needed assistance to immigrants and their families
• hear about specific needs from practitioners working directly with impacted families
We United Methodists affirm our biblical mandate in the United Methodist Discipline by stating, “We oppose immigration policies that separate family members from each other or that include detention of families with children, and we call on local churches to be in ministry with immigrant families.”
Please join me, the cabinet, and the leadership team in this forum as we seek to love our neighbors.
