Dear friends in Christ,
I thank my God every time I remember you, constantly praying with joy in every one of my prayers for all of you.
We echo the worlds of Paul to the Philippians as we begin Lent together. Thank you for the constancy of your prayers as we experienced together the Ash Wednesday Prayer Vigil.
Across the North Carolina Conference, from midnight until midnight, we united our hearts before God. We offered prayers in our homes and in Ash Wednesday worship. We paused to be silent. We walked with God – in labyrinths and outside in God’s creation. We asked for guidance and unity and faithfulness, praying for the whole connection of United Methodist people, for United Methodist mission and for the 2016 General Conference.
Together we have experienced the power of prayer. Through the great stream of prayer we felt the comforting and strengthening embrace of God. Let us continue to “pray without ceasing” in the days ahead. May our prayers resound with the prayers of all United Methodist people, creating a beautiful chorus of praise and humble intercession as we move forward in our life together.
With gratitude for your prayers for the United Methodist Church,
Hope Morgan Ward
