“Then God said, ‘Let us make humans in our image, according to our likeness; and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the wild animals of the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth.’” Genesis 1:26-28
Rev. Jarrod Davis opened with scripture from Genesis 1, that emphasizes the “dominion,” the responsibility, to take care of creation. Davis said one of the first steps to becoming better caretakers is to “talk about it as the church” through scripture and worship. Two representatives from the Conference Creation Care Committee shared how their church has participated in creation care, through educating youth, building community gardens, clothing closets to keep clothes out of landfills, as well as providing clothes to those in need, and working with other committees to create positive impacts in the church and community.
