The Rev. Dr. Anthony Davis, an ordained elder in the AME Zion Church, brought the conference the life-changing and transformative work that can be done with foster children. He stressed the importance of the work of foster home providers such as Methodist Home for Children.
The most riveting part of his presentation was his personal story of being placed in the foster children system in Connecticut. He was in a foster home for 17 years coming into the foster care system as a two-month-old infant. He emphasized how the statistics provided a grim future, especially for African-American males, in the foster care system. However, he was an anomaly of that statistic. He went to the military and afterwards attained a bachelor’s degree, master degree, and a doctorate degree.
Dr. Davis is a Board of Director’s Member, for the Methodist Home for Children. He emphasized that Methodist Home for Children provides a safe stable home for children. He stated that it has served 1400 children over the years. He provided a text messaging link for those that desire to help assist with the efforts of Methodist Home for Children: MHCFamily444-999.
Children placed in foster care do not need to end up as a negative representative in statistics. All these children need is a loving, caring, and nurturing environment that not only encourages but helps children to grow and be transformed beyond their personal stories. Many thanks are given for Methodist Home for Children for providing quality foster care for children in need.
