Impact10 Grants are awarded to help “new faith communities to innovate the church, increase the kingdom, and impact the world.” Formerly known as The Ten Dollar Club, Dr. Marty Cauley, Director of Coaching and Content of the office of New Faith Communities, explains that Impact10 provides the funding “to help entrepreneurial leaders reach more people, more diverse people, and more young people.”
In 2015, Impact10 awarded a grant to The Anchor in Wilmington. Phillip Chryst, spiritual entrepreneur, was sent to plant a faith community in 2013 with a dream to reach those who had been “turned off by the church, neglected by the church, and indifferent toward the church.” The dream unfolds through The Anchor’s providing a safe place for those seeking Christ as a community living the vision to be a place where Christ can be the “anchor of our soul.”
The Anchor’s nomadic worship life, relying on space in local pubs, homes, and on “The Barge” along Wilmington’s waterfront, enables exposure to more people. Chryst explains, “We believe in going where the people are, not expecting them to always come to us,” in a Star Times article featuring The Anchor.
The Impact10 grant of $50,000 will provide for The Anchor a home base, securing a permanent place to worship in the fall. This home base will afford the fellowship a place to anchor many of their ministries and create an even greater sense of community as they continue to go where the people are.
