Rev. Jerry Bryan, Conference Secretary, took the microphone on Saturday morning to share reflections about the location of Annual Conference 2016. Rev. Bryan praised the hospitality of Wilmington and the Wilmington Convention Center and acknowledged the hard work and service of the Harbor District churches, pastors, and lay people. However, because we used more physical space and utilized more set up days, Annual Conference 2015 cost $20,000 more than last year.
Rev, Bryan also shared that because of the way that conference centers book up years in advance, we can no longer plan year to year for Annual Conference. He recommended planing 3-5 years ahead minimum with 6 or 7 being optimal for securing the best location.
Rev. Bryan moved that the Annual Conference Session return to Greenville for the next three years. Members shared thoughts from the microphone of the positives and negatives along with questions about logistics. The vote showed strong support for the recommendation to return to Greenville. We look forward to gathering for worshipful work June 15-18, 2016 in Greenville, NC.
