The Congregations for Children (C4C) Breakout session featured presentations that challenged NC to serve children, support teachers, and reach out to local communities. Dr. June Atkinson, Superintendent of NC Schools, reiterated the connection between poverty and literacy.
Beacon Superintendent Gil Wise observed, “People are hungry to see our churches in mission in schools in our communities. They have the desire. They need the ‘how to’ – this workshop gave them the tools.”
Beacon District pastor, Toni Wood, long-time children’s ministry advocate, reflected, “There is so much needed to be done for children in our churches and so much that can be done easily.”
