Bring your confirmation group to Camp Don Lee as we explore Confirmation as an important step in the journey of faith. Confirmands will be led through a retreat that will serve as an opportunity to delve deeper into what it means to be a United Methodist as a supplement to their confirmation work in their local church. Youth will examine what it means to claim their Christian calling for themselves and create stoles expressing this personal faith and calling. We will use the Credo curriculum as our theological guide for this retreat. \n\n\n\nRev. Adam Charville and Rev. Caitlin Delamar will lead our 2024 Confirmation Retreat. Rev. Charville is a United Methodist pastor at Four Oaks UMC and a student at Duke Divinity working towards his D. Min. degree. Rev. Charville feels close to God whenever he’s at Camp Don Lee and loves ministering to other people so they can feel God with them in this place. Rev. Delamar is the Faith Formation Coordinator at Camp Don Lee and an ordained deacon of the Virginia Conference of The UMC. Rev. Delamar is excited to serve as a part of the Confirmation Retreat team this year at this place God has blessed! \n\n\n\nLearn more and register now→ URL:https://nccumc.org/event/confirmation-retreat-at-camp-don-lee/ LOCATION:Don Lee Camp & Retreat Center\, 315 Camp Don Lee Road\, Arapahoe\, North Carolina\, 28510 CATEGORIES:In Person,Related By Faith END:VEVENT BEGIN:VEVENT DTSTART;TZID=America/New_York:20240308T100000 DTEND;TZID=America/New_York:20240308T180000 DTSTAMP:20240328T220113 CREATED:20240229T175430Z LAST-MODIFIED:20240303T201658Z UID:10000372-1709892000-1709920800@nccumc.org SUMMARY:RISE! Dr. Anne Walker Sims is a Virginia native who grew up near the beach and feels most at home near large bodies of water. She graduated from William and Mary with a double major in Environmental Science and Spanish but soon came to realize that God had a different calling for her: to love people rather than save dolphins. At Duke Divinity School\, she learned to cheer on the Blue Devils\, met and married Rev. Ben Sims\, an Alabama native and also a Duke student pastor. She’s been a pastor for nearly 25 years. \nSince making North Carolina home\, she and Ben have shared their home with rescue dogs and cats while serving churches in cities\, small towns\, and rural communities\, loving each for their unique gifts–all this while completing her Doctor of Ministry degree at Drew in 2010. In 2019 she and Ben moved to Oriental\, and hope to never leave. In addition to serving Oriental UMC and facilitating community partnerships to serve the whole community\, she leads workshops and retreats on a variety of topics\, mostly around ancient and contemporary contemplative practices to soothe the soul and help us connect to God. The Oriental Community Labyrinth and Camp Don Lee are tied for her two favorite places on the planet.
