For Youth Completing Grades 9-12
The Trail  Hike is an experience of spiritual journey.  This backpacking hike along a section of the Appalachian Trail calls for a balancing of physical, mental, emotional and spiritual life factors.  Youth are grouped into teams of eight youth with two to three adult hikers.  Groups travel by van from the Methodist Building in Raleigh to the Trail.  Each participant is responsible for their own backpack and gear, as well as a share of the community gear.  Meals are cooked along the Trail over campfires.  Campsites and shelters provide resting places for each evening.  Reflection, worship and sharing are a significant part of the journey.  The hike provides a mountaintop experience for youth to face and meet a challenge, to see God at a new height, and to become aware of God’s abiding presence. The theme is WALK THIS WAY.  Walking in the way of the Lord is not always the easiest path to take but in the end it will be the most meaningful and rewarding.
