July 19-24
For Youth Completing Grades 9-12
ACS is an exhilarating experience for youth to meet God through themselves and others. In this week-long event dedicated to the formal establishment of opinions on relevant issues, youth also attend to the business of the NC Conference UMYF.
The theme is RISKY BUSINESS: LIVING DANGEROUSLY FOR JESUS. When one chooses to be a disciple of Jesus Christ, you are subject to a life of “risky business.” As high schoolers, youth are often put into costly situations where decisions must be made and the opportunity exists to live dangerously for Jesus. Each day at ACS features legislative affairs sessions dealing with resolutions on current issues, growth groups focusing on spiritual growth, meals in the cafeteria, interest groups on a variety of topics, free time with options for recreation, worship services and an evening program (icebreakers, a speaker, dance, talent show). The week concludes with an inspiring communion service on Friday night. Elections of officers are held along with district meetings to select district representatives to Conference youth committees. With the focus of the week on legislative affairs sessions (debate on resolutions addressing current social issues) and leadership selection, senior high youth with interest in and passion for such serious matters will be more likely to benefit from the ACS experience.
